How We Cut Zencastr’s CAC from $34 to $2.59

Zencastr is a browser-based podcasting platform. When we started working together, their CAC in a new market was $34 or higher, and the team was producing fewer than 10 creative variations per month. At that pace, finding winning creative in even one new market was a quarter-long exercise.

What Can’t AI Do in Meta Ads (For the Time Being)?

Here is where I want to be honest. AI is not taking over Meta ads strategy. What AI cannot do well in 2026 is collaborate with clients, set overall growth strategy, allocate budget across channels, or make the judgment calls about what to change, what to kill, and what to scale. Those parts of the job still belong to humans.

The things AI still cannot do well:

Client collaboration. The back-and-forth that gets a campaign from “we think this will work” to “we know what this brand stands for” is still a human conversation. It is messy, iterative, and relationship-driven. AI can summarize a call. It cannot replace the call.

Overall growth strategy. Deciding that your business needs to double down on lifecycle retention before expanding paid acquisition is a judgment call. AI can help you analyze the data. A human still needs to connect it to your business model, your stage, and what the next 12 months should look like.

Budget allocation. How much goes to Meta versus TikTok versus LinkedIn versus experimental channels is still a strategic question. AI can model scenarios. It cannot tell you that your CFO wants to pull back 20% next quarter because of a board meeting.

Knowing what to change, kill, or keep. This is the one I feel most strongly about. AI can produce 40 creative variants. AI can surface which ones are performing. A human is still better at deciding which underperforming campaigns deserve another iteration and which ones need to die. That judgment comes from pattern recognition across dozens of campaigns over years.

I say “for the time being” because I don’t want to pretend I know what the next three years look like. What I can tell you is that right now, in 2026, humans still decide what should move. AI just makes the movement faster and cheaper.
