The Challenge
Hedge Fund Alpha had built a $2M ARR financial media subscription business, but growth had plateaued. The company relied on a narrow set of acquisition channels, had no systematic marketing operations, and lacked the strategic leadership to identify and execute on new growth levers.
They needed more than a campaign manager — they needed someone to diagnose the growth landscape, build the infrastructure, and open channels that didn’t exist yet.
The Approach
We embedded as a fractional CMO, combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution across three workstreams.
Growth strategy and roadmap. We audited the full marketing operation — channels, content, conversion paths, retention mechanics — and built a prioritized 90-day roadmap focused on the highest-leverage opportunities. The diagnosis revealed that AI-driven content and AEO/GEO optimization represented untapped channels with outsized potential for a financial media brand.
AI content infrastructure. We built an AI-assisted content pipeline that produced high-quality financial analysis and market commentary at 5x the previous pace. Each piece was optimized for both traditional search and AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews), ensuring Hedge Fund Alpha showed up when prospects asked AI tools for investment research recommendations.
Email and lifecycle overhaul. The existing email program was basic — a weekly newsletter with minimal segmentation. We rebuilt it with behavioral triggers, segmented sequences, and a structured onboarding flow that moved free readers toward paid subscriptions.
